The cruiser bicycle is designed for those that simply want to take a lazy ride around town or up and down the boardwalk. They are primarily built for comfort rather than performance and are perfect for those that aren’t interested in speed and agility. Commonly called “beach cruisers”, these bikes are becoming all the rage with urban hipsters.

One of the main attributes common to nearly every cruiser bicycle is the oversized tire. The balloon-ish tires that are put on these bikes are what help it to absorb bumps without creating discomfort for the rider. They are also perfectly suited to riding in loose sand, and thus the moniker “beach cruiser”.

One of the most enticing aspects of a cruiser bicycle is their relatively small price tag. Even when purchased brand new, many of these bikes are less than 300-400 dollars. This makes them affordable to nearly everyone.
