Racing Bicycles

Racing bicycles are designed to be as lightweight and as fast as possible. They are highly specialized machines that can, in some cases, cost thousands of dollars. And while sales numbers have dipped since the introduction of the mountain bike, these racers have seen a bit of resurgence in recent years.

High-end racing bicycles often incorporate a number of high-tech materials in their construction. Carbon-fiber frames are often used because they are not only extremely lightweight, but are also exceptionally rigid as well. Titanium and other alloys are commonly used to make the wheels for these bikes.

There are racing bicycles that can be purchased on a more modest budget. Many bike shops will carry less expensive racers for those that just want something fun to ride on the weekends. It’s not unusual to find a quality road bike for less than 500-1000 dollars.
